Microsoft 365 or Office 365? Know the difference

In April 2021, Microsoft made the official name change of Office 365 to Microsoft 365. However, you will still come across two products: Office 365 and MS 365. Although these offerings grant access to the same set of apps, the difference lies in the additional benefits and costs. 

Office 365

Office 365 is a cloud-based suite of apps and services that center around business productivity and collaboration. 

Depending on the plan you decide for, you can also have access to some of these apps and services:

Microsoft 365 

MS 365, on the other hand, is a bundle of services that includes Office 365. This subscription service allows users to always have the most up-to-date modern productivity Microsoft tools. 

Some of what it includes:

• Windows 11 Business
• Enterprise Mobility + Security 
• Machine Learning 
• Defender for Endpoint

All of MS 365 plans for enterprise and most of the plans for business, schools, and non-profits include the fully installed desktop apps. However, plans like Business Basic offer the online versions of Office, file storage, and more.
