How Much Does a Windows 11 License Cost?
It depends on the edition and whether you’re already on Microsoft 365 Business Premium.
For most businesses, a Windows 11 Pro perpetual license is the simplest option. You pay once and the license is yours permanently, no renewals, no subscriptions. Through 365 Cloud Store:
- $49/device with Microsoft 365 Business Premium
- $187/device without Microsoft 365 Business Premium
Need Enterprise? Pricing depends on the plan and the size of your organization. Talk to a licensig expert → and we’ll give you an accurate quote based on what you actually need.
What Are the Different Windows 11 License Types?
Windows 11 comes in a few different editions. The right one depends on the size of your organization and what you need to do.
- Windows 11 Home: Built for personal use. Lacks the security and management tools businesses need.
- Windows 11 Pro: The baseline for businesses. Includes BitLocker encryption, Remote Desktop, Group Policy management, and Microsoft 365 integration. Available as a one-time perpetual license.
- Windows 11 Enterprise: Built for larger organizations that need advanced security, centralized device management, and flexible deployment. Available as a monthly subscription per user through E3 and E5 plans.
For most organizations with 10 or more employees, the decision comes down to Pro vs. Enterprise.

What Is Windows 11 Enterprise, and Is It Better than Pro?
Windows 11 Enterprise is built for organizations that need more control over their devices and stronger security. It’s licensed as an upgrade on top of Windows Pro, sold as a monthly or annual subscription per user.
There are two plans:
- Windows 11 Enterprise E3: Adds centralized device management, advanced security controls, and flexible deployment tools on top of what Pro already includes.
- Windows 11 Enterprise E5: Everything in E3, plus Microsoft Defender for Endpoint for organizations that need advanced threat detection and response.
For most organizations managing 10 or more devices, Enterprise is the better fit. Pro is a solid starting point, but Enterprise is built to grow with your organization.
Does Microsoft 365 Business Premium Include a Windows 11 License?
Not exactly, but it’s close.
Microsoft 365 Business Premium includes Windows 11 Business, which is essentially Windows 11 Pro with Intune device management built in. It’s available on eligible devices as part of your subscription.
What it doesn’t include is Windows 11 Enterprise. If your organization needs E3 or E5 capabilities, those require a separate license on top of your Microsoft 365 plan.

How to Buy Windows 11 and Where to Get an Official License?
The safest way to buy Windows 11 is through Microsoft direct or an authorized Microsoft Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) not through third-party key resellers offering heavily discounted licenses. Those keys are often sourced through gray-market channels, violate Microsoft’s licensing terms, and can stop working without notice.
Buying through 365 Cloud Store means you get a legitimate license through an authorized Microsoft channel, pricing that scales with your organization, a dedicated account manager who actually knows your setup, 24/7 support that’s faster than Microsoft direct, and a real-time portal to keep track of everything you own.

How to Upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11?
First, check if your devices can actually run it. Windows 11 requires a TPM 2.0 chip, Secure Boot, and a compatible 64-bit processor. Microsoft’s PC Health Check tool will tell you in minutes which devices qualify run that before anything else.
From there, how you upgrade depends on how your organization manages devices:
- Managed devices: Deploy through Windows Update for Business, Microsoft Endpoint Manager, or Windows Autopilot
- Unmanaged devices: Eligible devices get the upgrade automatically through Windows Update
If you already have an active Enterprise subscription, no new license is needed.
If your organization uses Intune, managing the rollout gets a lot easier. You can push Windows 11 across your entire device fleet from one place, run phased rollouts to catch issues before they affect everyone, and see in real time which devices are ready, and which aren’t. Your existing Windows 10 security policies carry over too, so there’s no rebuilding from scratch. We wrote a full breakdown on this if you want to go further .
If some devices don’t qualify, you may need a hardware refresh before you can move forward. Get in touch → and we’ll help you put together a plan that keeps costs under control.
Windows 11 licensing isn’t as complicated as it looks once you know what you need. The hard part is usually figuring out where your organization actually stands what you have, what’s missing, and where you’re overpaying.
That’s what we do. 365 Cloud Store is a certified Microsoft CSP based in Austin, Texas, working with U.S. organizations to sort out their Microsoft licensing without the runaround. Contact us today→
