Microsoft Copilot for Business Trial Is Now Available

Before you enable the trial, keep in mind that Copilot carries the same data governance considerations as a paid subscription. A quick review of your access settings up front can save headaches later.

Microsoft has opened up a limited-time trial for Microsoft 365 Copilot Business, giving eligible organizations a chance to test the assistant before committing to a paid plan. Here’s what you need to know.
Trial Details
- Available through December 31, 2026
- Runs for 30 days, with no extensions
- Includes 25 licenses per tenant
- Applies to Business SKUs only: Basic, Standard, or Premium
- Limited to one trial per Microsoft 365 tenant
- Open to commercial customers only. EDU, nonprofit, and GCC SKUs do not qualify
Auto-Renewal: What to Watch For
The trial automatically converts to a paid subscription once the 30 days end. If your organization decides Copilot isn’t the right fit, you’ll need to let us know before the trial expires so we can turn off auto-renew on your behalf. We can also disable auto-renew from the start if you’d rather test Copilot with no risk of an unplanned charge.

Data Governance Still Matters
A trial license carries the same access and permissions as a paid subscription. Before rolling Copilot out to any users, even temporarily, it’s worth reviewing your organization’s data governance settings so Copilot only surfaces content people are meant to see.
AI governance is the framework of policies, controls, and processes that guide how AI is used in your organization. It helps reduce risk, protect data, and ensure AI adoption stays aligned with business and compliance requirements. For organizations that want a structured approach to this before enabling Copilot, Team Venti’s AI governance services cover this kind of review.
Is This Trial Right for Your Organization?
If you’ve been considering Copilot but weren’t ready to commit, this trial is a low-commitment way to see how it performs across your team’s day-to-day work. Licenses are limited and the trial window closes at the end of 2026.
