How to set up Microsoft 365 for Business in your organization

In this article we will guide you through the steps to take to set up Microsoft 365 in your organization and make the most out of your subscription.

Setup Guides in the Microsoft 365 Business Admin Center

You can access setup guides in the Microsoft 365 admin center from the Setup Guidance page. This page tracks the status of your progress and allows you to return at any time to complete the guide.  

Microsoft 365 admin center > Home Page > Training & guides card > Select Advanced deployment guide > Select All guides 


*Note: You must have an admin role like Global Reader to access the Microsoft 365 setup guides. Only admins with the Global Administrator role can use the guides to change settings in the tenant. 

Setup Microsoft 365 Business

Step 1. Add your users and domain to Microsoft 365 Business

Our team will guide you through setting up your domain to use with email and Microsoft Teams. We will also show you how to create accounts and email addresses for other people in your organization that need to use Microsoft 365. You can add or delete accounts any time after the setup. 

Step 2. Download and install Office on your Mac or PC

Once you have created all the accounts needed for the people in your organization, you and your team will be able to install the full desktop version of Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and more) on your Mac or PC. Each user can install Office on up to 5 devices (not mobile). 

Step 3. Setup email

After you have installed Office, our experts will help you set up Outlook to work with your new Microsoft 365 mailbox. Everyone on your team will need to perform this step. 

Step 4. Import email, contacts, and calendar

Our team will show you how to migrate your existing email and contacts from other email systems to your Microsoft 365 mailbox so, you can see it all in one place. 

Step 5. Setup Microsoft 365 Business on your mobile device

You and your team can set up the Office mobile apps on Android phones and tablets, iPhones and iPads, or Windows phones to get work done from anywhere at any time. Each user can install the Office mobile apps on up to 10 mobile devices (5 phones and 5 tablets). 

Step 6. Install Microsoft Teams on your PC, Mac, and mobile device

Next, you and your team can install Teams on all your computers, tablets, and phones.  

Step 7. Setup Microsoft 365 Business file storage and sharing

Our experts will show you how to store files online so you can access them across devices, share them with other people, and collaborate from anywhere at any time. 

Step 8. Get started using Microsoft 365 Business Premium
